The Pleasant Groom Lytham

At The Pleasant Groom, we believe your companion deserves more than just a haircut—they deserve a moment of genuine care. Our mission is simple: to ensure every dog leaves looking impeccable and feeling deeply cherished. Real Talk: A Stress-Free Approach Let’s be honest—most dogs aren’t natural fans of the grooming table! Whether it’s a vocal extrovert, a "jumpy" bundle of energy, or a nervous soul, we embrace every personality. If you’re passing by our shop windows and hear a bark or see a dog looking a little unsure, please know that we are doing our absolute utmost to help them settle. We use professional behavioral techniques and specialized low-stress equipment to navigate those "wobbly" moments, ensuring every dog—from the loud to the shy and everything in-between—feels looked after and understood. Transparency You Can Trust Confidence is built through openness. Our salon is designed with large, clear windows, offering a full view of our working environment. This "open-concept" allows you to witness firsthand the gentle, expert handling your dog receives in our serene space. Our Dedicated Team 🐾 Leigh-Stacie (Owner): Overseeing everyone and everything to ensure our high standards are met daily. 🐾 Beckie: Our favorite groomer has returned to us! After a few months away, she realized she couldn't stay away from our wonderful community. We (and our clients) missed her dearly, and we are so happy to have her back. 🐾 Rebecca: Joining us this June! A recent arrival to the area, Rebecca brings over ten years of expertise and is a Grooming Competition Winner 🏆. We are thrilled to add a true grooming champ to the team and hope you welcome her with open arms. 🐾 Emma: will be moving on soon to her next chapter. We are so grateful for her time with us and the diverse techniques she shared with every breed. 🐾 Taylor (Grooming Assistant): Providing the vigilant support that keeps our process calm and secure. 🐾 Fallon & Esmeralda: Our resident Siberian Husky and Poodle, who help maintain our relaxed, "home-like" vibe. Our Philosophy: Wellbeing Above All We practice welfare-first grooming. While we always strive for a magnificent finish, your dog’s comfort is our priority. If a pet is having an "off day," we choose compassion over perfection, prioritizing their emotional health above a purely aesthetic requirement. Every visit begins with a bespoke consultation to understand your dog’s unique temperament. We look forward to welcoming you and your beloved companion to the family.

Both my pups have been groomed by Leigh for over a year now and honestly we wouldn’t go anywhere else! Having malamutes means a lot of upkeep with their fur and Leigh always makes them look beautiful and clean and she does an amazing job at getting their undercoat out. Simba and Nala absolutely love going to see her and she always shows them lots of love and attention. They would both 100% recommend her and so would we!

Wow … I am so happy to have found leigh .. I have a border collie who hates being groomed and I have struggled to find someone to take him on because he has issues with noises and really doesn't like the clippers or hairdryer .. Leigh today was wonderful .. she made him feel comfortable before even attempting to groom him .. there was no time scale and went at max pace .. I was sent photos n videos throughout his time there which has never happened before .. he was really happy when I collected him normally pulling me out of the gate but he was happy to stay and play with the ball .. I would totally recommend Leigh to groom ur dog .. not only was he happy he looks and smells wounderful 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 two very happy customers 😊😊

I haven’t learnt how to do reviews yet but I just want to say to anyone scrolling that I have 3 doodles and a maltipoo and I try and groom them myself as I am so fussy as my mutts are holistic and predominantly raw fed. I can honestly say the attention to detail and time taken to meet my wish’s and the results are the best I’ve ever seen from other groomers or definitely from my ones! I’ve already booked to come back Thank you Pleasant Groom 😀

Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions of Service

Please read below 👇

Mandatory Disclosure and Owner Warranty
The Client warrants that they have provided a comprehensive account of the pet’s medical history, including pre-existing health conditions, allergies, and behavioral idiosyncrasies. It is a strict condition of service that the Client discloses if the pet has previously been refused service by another practitioner due to aggressive tendencies or biting. Failure to disclose such history renders the Client solely liable for any injury or damage caused to persons, other animals, or property on-site.

Deemed Acceptance and Operational Structure
By presenting a pet for grooming and relinquishing custody to the Salon, the Client acknowledges and accepts these terms in their entirety.
Independent Contractors: The Pleasant Groom Lytham operates as an umbrella facility. All grooming practitioners are Independent Self-Employed Contractors. Each practitioner maintains individual professional indemnity and public liability insurance and holds sole responsibility for the services rendered. The Pleasant Groom Lytham serves as an umbrella brand and facility provider.

Employment Status: Please be advised that all groomers operating within the salon are Independent Self-Employed Contractors, not employees of The Pleasant Groom Lytham.

Liability & Insurance: Every groomer maintains their own individual professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Each groomer is solely responsible for the services they provide and the care of the animal under their direct supervision

Reception Policy: The pet remains the Client’s full responsibility until it has safely passed through the internal reception gate. The Salon assumes no liability for pets that slip collars or escape while on the Client-side of the reception desk.

Welfare and The Animal Welfare Act (2006)
In accordance with Section 5 of the Animal Welfare Act (2006), the Salon prioritizes the animal’s protection from pain and suffering over aesthetic preferences.

Matting: Severely matted coats will be removed via a "clip-off" (shaving) to prevent prolonged distress. The Client acknowledges that this procedure increases the risk of skin irritation, nicks, and aural hematomas (ear swelling).

Liability Release: The Client hereby releases the Salon and its contractors from any liability regarding injuries or pre-existing skin conditions uncovered during the removal of neglected matting. A minimum surcharge of £20 applies to all matted coats.

Health, Safety, and Medical Mandates
Safety Equipment: The use of professional restraints, muzzles, or grooming hammocks is authorized for the safety of both the pet and the practitioner and shall not be deemed as punishment.

Emergency Care: The Salon is authorized to seek immediate veterinary intervention if deemed necessary by the staff. The Client agrees to indemnify the Salon for all resulting costs.

Exclusions: We do not accept pets that are pregnant, in season, or recently mated. We strictly adhere to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and will not service any dog (or cross-breed) listed within the Act.
Sanitation: Discovery of fleas incurs a £15 deep-cleaning surcharge. Tick removal is billed at £5 per tick.

Financial Terms and Cancellations
Pricing & Estimates: All quotes provided prior to the appointment are estimates only. Final billing is determined by the individual practitioner based on coat condition, temperament, and actual time taken.
Payment Systems and Data Security
We utilize a secure, encrypted system for all financial transactions to ensure client privacy.

Online Bookings: To secure an online appointment, card details must be provided. The salon does not have access to your full card details, nor the ability to save that card on our local devices. The link to the card details exists solely for that individual transaction; once the appointment is concluded, the link vanishes.
In-Store Bookings: We do not store or "file" card information for in-store bookings.

No-Show & Cancellation Charges: In the event of a "No-Show" or late cancellation (less than 24 hours' notice), the system is authorized to automatically deduct the 100% service fee from the card provided during online booking. For in-store or bulk bookings, an invoice will be issued or the fee will be added to your next scheduled visit. Failure to settle outstanding balances will result in the immediate suspension of all future appointment allocations.

Cancellation Policy: A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations. Failure to provide such notice, or a "No-Show," will result in a 100% service fee charge.

Additional Fees: Dual handling for aggressive or frail pets is billed at £15 per 30 minutes. Late collections incur a holding fee of £5 per 30 minutes. Grooms exceeding standard time slots are billed at £25 per hour.

Emmi-pet Ultrasound Teeth Cleaning
This is a cosmetic hygiene service. The session will be terminated immediately, and the full fee shall remain payable, if the practitioner suspects loose teeth, tumors, oral injuries, or if the pet exhibits excessive stress. The Client acknowledges that this is not a substitute for veterinary surgery.

Limitation of Liability: While every precaution is taken, the Salon is not liable for injuries resulting from sudden pet movement or mechanical equipment failure, except in instances of proven gross negligence. Any post-service concerns must be reported within 24 hours of collection

The "Comfort Guarantee"
If we feel a specific styling request (like a complex face shape or hand-stripping) is causing your dog discomfort or causing them to tremble/tire, we will pivot to a maintenance trim. At The Pleasant Groom, we will never sacrifice a senior dog's comfort for the sake of a haircut. If a senior dog becomes overly stressed or shows signs of pain, we will stop the styling process and focus only on the bath and essential drying. The Pleasant Groom will not perform "show-quality" precision scissoring if it requires a senior dog to stand for an unsafe amount of time.

Satisfaction and Service Policy

Non-Refundable Services: The Client acknowledges that pet grooming is classified as a service rather than a product. Unlike a physical product, a service involves the immediate consumption of professional labor, time, and specialized resources that cannot be "returned" or "restocked."

Rectification Protocol: Because the service has been performed in full, the Salon does not offer refunds. If the Client is dissatisfied with the aesthetic outcome, they must inform the individual practitioner at the time of collection or within 24 hours. The practitioner will make every reasonable effort to rectify the groom.

Escalation: If the individual groomer is unable to rectify the issue to a satisfactory standard, the matter will be referred to the Salon Owner (Leigh-Stacie) for final review.

Puppy Training & Introduction Policy
At The Pleasant Groom, we prioritize "training over transformation" for all puppies under six months of age. To ensure a lifetime of stress-free visits, our initial appointments focus on desensitization to the sounds, smells, and sensations of the grooming environment. We perform maintenance-only grooming (eyes, paws, and sanitary areas) rather than full body styling to avoid overwhelming your puppy. Services will be performed only as the puppy’s patience allows, ensuring they build the confidence and trust necessary for a positive grooming future.

Owners must inform us of any changes in the dog’s health or medication since their last visit. If a dog arrives showing signs of contagious illness (coughing, runny eyes, or diarrhea), we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment to protect the health of all pets in the salon.

To maintain the 'Pleasant' environment our name promises, we monitor stress levels closely. If a dog’s vocalization or high-stress behavior becomes disruptive to the safety of other pets on the premises, we may require that pet to be booked as the 'First Appointment of the Day' or a 'One-on-One Express' service, which may carry an additional fee.

Comprehensive Media Policy
The Salon operates on an implied consent basis. We reserve the right to capture and distribute professional media (photographs/video) of your pet across all digital platforms for promotional purposes. Explicit "opt-out" requests must be submitted in writing at the time of drop-off.

The "Easy-Read" Summary
(For a quick understanding of our rules)

Be Honest: You must tell us if your dog is ill or has bitten anyone before. If you don't tell us and someone gets hurt, it's on you.

Who is grooming your dog? The Pleasant Groom Lytham is a shared space for professional groomers. Every groomer here is self-employed and carries their own insurance. They aren't employees of the salon; they are independent business owners responsible for your dog's care while they are grooming them.

Your Card Info is Safe: When you book online, our system uses a secure "handshake." We never see your full card numbers, and we can’t save them to our computers. Once your appointment is finished, that link to your card disappears. For in-store bookings, we don't keep any card info on file at all.

No-Shows Cost Money: Because our groomers are self-employed, a "No-Show" means they don't get paid for that time.

If you booked online, the 100% fee will be taken automatically if you miss the slot.
If you booked in-store, we will send you an invoice or add the cost to your next bill.
Note: If you have an unpaid bill, we cannot book any more appointments for you until it is paid.

Welfare First: We follow the Animal Welfare Act. If your dog is matted, we will shave them to stop them from being in pain. This can occasionally cause minor skin irritation or nicks. By leaving your dog with us, you agree that this is a risk of the de-matting process and we aren't responsible for these issues.

Safety: Your dog is your responsibility until they go through our safety gate. We use muzzles and restraints if needed for safety, never for punishment. To maintain a safe and focused environment, we do not allow owners to stay in the grooming area during the appointment. Seeing or hearing an owner can cause a dog to become over-excited or anxious on the table, increasing the risk of injury with sharp tools. We will contact you immediately when your pet is ready for pickup

The Law & Matting: If your dog is badly matted, we will shave them for their own comfort (as required by the Animal Welfare Act). This can sometimes cause small nicks or skin ruddiness. We aren't responsible for these issues if the coat was neglected. If a dog arrives with a coat condition that was not disclosed during booking (e.g., severe matting, skin infections, or significant parasites), the initial price quote is subject to change. We will provide an updated estimate upon physical assessment of the dog

Dropping Off: Your dog is your responsibility until they are behind our safety gate. Please keep them on a lead!
Our Team: Our groomers are self-employed. They use our space but are responsible for their own work and insurance.

While we use high-quality, hypoallergenic products, skin reactions can occasionally occur. Owners must disclose any known skin sensitivities or allergies prior to the appointment. The Pleasant Groom is not liable for any allergic reactions but must be notified within 24 hours so we can update your pet's file for future visits

During extreme weather (heat waves or freezing temperatures), we may adjust our grooming techniques or equipment (such as using cooler dryer settings) to ensure your pet’s safety. We reserve the right to reschedule 'high-stress' grooms during extreme heat if we believe it poses a risk to a senior pet’s respiratory health.

Money & Time: We need 24 hours' notice if you want to cancel. If you don't show up, you still have to pay 100% of the bill. We also charge extra for fleas (£15), ticks (£5), and late pick-ups (£5).

Photos: We love taking photos for TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram! If you don't want your dog on social media, just tell us when you arrive.

Health: We don't groom pregnant dogs or dogs on the Dangerous Dogs list.
If your dog has a medical emergency, we will take them to the vet and you will need to pay the bill.

Check Your Dog: Please check your pet when you pick them up. If you have any concerns about the groom or their skin, you must let us know within 24 hours.

Why we don’t offer refunds: It is important to understand that grooming is a service, not a product. When you buy a product (like a toy), it can be returned. When you book a service, you are paying for the groomer’s professional time, physical labor, and the use of the salon. Since we cannot "get that time back" once the groom is done, we do not offer refunds.

What if I'm not happy? We want you to love your pet's look! Please check your dog thoroughly at pick-up. If the haircut isn't what you expected, tell your groomer right away so they can try to fix it. If they can’t resolve it, they will involve the Salon Owner to take a look this needs to be done within 24 hours.

Teeth Cleaning: This is a gentle cleaning, not a vet operation. If we see a wobbly tooth or a lump, we will stop and you will need to see a vet.

Behavioral Safety & Service Termination Policy
At The Pleasant Groom, we strive to provide a calm and safe environment for every pet. However, the safety of the animals in our care and our staff is our absolute priority. To ensure this, we adhere to the following behavioral policy:

Safety-First Termination
If a dog displays "naughty" or dangerous behavior—including but not limited to extreme aggression, persistent biting, or frantic thrashing—that poses a risk of injury to themselves or the groomer, the session will be stopped immediately. We will not "force" a groom that puts anyone’s physical safety in jeopardy.

Right to Reflect & Refer
If we determine that a dog’s temperament or stress level is not a fit for our salon, we will "reflect" the service. In these cases:

We will provide a professional recommendation to a specialized groomer or a veterinary facility better equipped with extra handlers or sedation options.
This referral is made with the dog’s best interests in heart to ensure they receive the care they need in a setting that can safely manage their behavior.

Mandatory Service Charges
Because a specific time slot was reserved and resources were used to attempt the groom, payment is still required if a session is terminated for safety reasons. * A fee of 100% of the scheduled service price will be charged, depending on the stage of the groom at the time of termination.
This covers the groomer’s time, the use of the facility, and the increased risk involved in handling a difficult pet.

Disclosure Requirements
Owners are required to inform The Pleasant Groom of any history of aggression or "grooming triggers" (such as fear of the dryer or nail clippers) prior to the appointment. Failure to disclose a known bite history may result in immediate termination of the service and a permanent ban from the salon.

Please ensure your pet has had a chance to relieve themselves before their appointment. A Sanitation Fee may be applied for excessive accidents in the grooming area, do not feed 1 hour before the appointment.

By leaving your pet with us today, you are agreeing to everything listed above.
